Ronald L. Early, 75, of Rockford, passed away June 8, 2020. He was born on February 1, 1945, in Salem, OR, the son of Wesley and Evelyn (Carpenter) Early. Ron attended R. A. Long High School in Longview WA, and joined the United States Navy, serving during the Viet Nam Era as an electronics technician in Hawaii.
Ron was a quiet man, who was mechanically inclined and meticulous. These qualities served him well as a painting contractor, working for the Rockford Park District. Two of his largest projects were painting the Forest City Queen and refinishing Trolly Car 36. He was a patient and good teacher to those who worked with him. Ron was a long time dedicated member of American Legion Robert C. A. Carlson Post #1207. In later life, Ron enjoyed participating in golf leagues and bowling, with two 300 games in his name.
Survived by long-time friend and companion, Kay Hewick; ex-wife, Pam Giannuzzi; daughter, Regina Leah Early; step-daughter, Jennifer Laine Austin, and grandson Peter Early. Predeceased by his parents.
