Ronald G. Puckett

Ronald G. Puckett, our Donut Maker went to meet his maker, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on National Donut Day June 2, 2017.
Ron was born December 12, 1938 in Corning, Arkansas. Ron loved hunting, woodworking, gardening, motorcycle rides and making memories with his family. In recent years he spent time passing along his gardening knowledge and skills to his grandson “D”.
He was an avid Green Bay Packer and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He owned and operated The Donut Hut in Rockford and Loves Park from 1976 to 1988. In later years he retired from Ipsen Heat Treating where he was a furnace operator.
He was a kind, loving, gentle, supportive Husband and Dad as well as an amazing Grandpa and Great Grandpa. He will be greatly missed and our family will cherish all of the wonderful memories that we have with him. He will be remembered by his hand crafted gifts made with love, his chicken and dumpling recipe and all of his stories that he enjoyed telling.
Ron married Sue Suiter on December 21, 1995.
He is survived by wife Sue. Son Kevin Puckett, Daughters; Mary (Cory) Ortgiesen, Kathleen (Matt) Kuss and Maureen (Dave) Taylor. Ten Grandchildren; Emily (Brian) McGuigan, Adam (Megan) Puckett, Josh (Jennie) Ortgiesen, Elizabeth (Josh) Jones, Alex Kuss (Josie Morgan), Seth Kuss (Devan Messer), Janie Kuss (Nevin Maxwell), Hannah Taylor (Shawn Engelkes) and Daniel Taylor. Three Great Grandchildren; Caleb Ortgiesen, Charlie Engelkes and Ava Engelkes. And his furry kid Bosco.
Predeceased by parents Louis and Pauline Loyd, grandson Jacob Ortgiesen and furry kid Lambeau.
A private family celebration of Ron’s life was held on June 4, 2017.
