Ronald C. Layng, 80 Ronald C. "Ronnie" Layng, 80, of Rockford, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born March 6, 1927 in Rockford the son of Harry and Thyra (Lundin) Layng. United States Veteran serving in the Navy during WWII. Married his loving wife of 53 years Marie K. Lynde on January 29, 1951. Ronnie and the Coronado grew up together both running 23 in 1950. By then he already had eleven years in the theater business. Starting at 12 years old at the Old Family Theater and working his way thru Vaudville at the Palace to the stage manager of the Coronado. He also worked as a cameraman for the CBC during the 68 Democratic Convention years. Later he became a Union Representative for International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). Survivors include his daughters, Jayne Stueck (Russ) of Paducah, KY and Kathleen (Barry) Greenberg of Rockford; grandchildren, Ken (Christine) Cooley, Kimberly Sullivan, Abby Stueck, Eric Steiner, Cacy Stueck and Hannah Marie Greenberg; great grandchildren, Alex Stueck, Teddy Brockman, Austin and Justin Cooley and Blake Burmood; great-great grandchild Madden Stueck; brother, Fred (Virginia) Layng of California. Preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marie on May 20, 2004. Special thanks to his CN Angels who truly cared for and loved him, they were his family who helped us all. He may have lost his memories, but we still have ours. We love you dad. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Matthew T. Rudden officiating. Interment to be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, March 23 from 5-8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.. Please make memorials to River Bluff Nursing Home or Alzhiemers Research.
