Ronald A. Wiegers

S. Beloit-Ronald A. Wiegers, 74, of S. Beloit and formerly of Rockford, died October 24, 2009 in his home. Born July 23, 1935 in Marinette, WI, son of George M. and Bernice (Prudhomme) Wiegers. United States Veteran serving in the Air force. Married his loving wife Frances A. Correnti in Rockford on October 15, 1966. Worked for 30 years at Ingersoll Cutting Tools Co. retiring in 1998. Current member of St. Peters Catholic Church in S. Beloit. Former member for 40 years at St. Bernadette Catholic Church where he was President of the St. Bernadette School Board and member of St. Bernadette Senior Association. Ron was a little league coach, boys and girls basketball coach, Cub Master, Webelo Commissioner and leader and was part of Jr. Achievement. He was also a member of the Westside Governing Board.

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Fran Wiegers; children, Kevin (Kimberly) Wiegers, Kurt (Julia) Wiegers and Kelly Verdina; grandchildren, Jessica Verdina, Kayla, Kyle, Kinsley, Kameron and Khloe Wiegers, Sam and Madeleine Wiegers; brother, Michael (Joanne) Wiegers, sister, Judith Wilde, several nieces and nephews and very special friends and neighbors, Edie, Lisa, Ron and Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Stephanie Verdina and baby brother George Jr.

Funeral Mass Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. continuing on Thursday in St. Bernadette Parish Hall from 9:30to 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
