Romona R. Dyreson, 88, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 25, 2008 in Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron. Romona was born May 2, 1920 in Rockford, the daughter of Phillip and Jeanette (Liddle) Quirk. Romona married LaVerne Ted Dyreson in Rockford on May 5, 1945. Romona worked in many different business establishments on the west side of Rockford, finishing out her career with 25 years of service at Bergners (Weises) retiring at the age of 75. She remained active even in retirement, involving herself in Town and Country Home Extension, WELCA, and many activities within Messiah Lutheran Church, her home church from the time she was 6 years old. She loved to bake and was especially known for her delicious pies. She occupied her time with her love of flower gardening and her many friends. She appreciated the simple things in life like the snow birds in winter, the pansies in spring, and relaxing on her front porch swing. Romona is survived by her two sons, Ray (Mary) and Gene (Gina) Dyreson; her grandchildren, Eric (Nichole), Kirk, Josh, Andy, and Emily Dyreson; her great-grandson, Matthew, and her niece, Anita Collingwood. She loved her husbands family as her own and still has many in-laws in the Dodgeville, WI area. Romona was predeceased by her husband LaVerne Ted in 1970, and her sister June Collingwood in 1995. Many thanks to all of her dear friends and neighbors, all of whom she loved and appreciated. A special thanks to the staff at Neighbors Nursing Home who helped her in her final months.
