Roger Reedy

Roger Reedy, 87, died peacefully in his home Thursday, May 6, 2010. Born February 20, 1923, son of John and Camilla (Byrne) Reedy. Graduated from St. Thomas High School, Class of 1940, attended Marquette University and graduated from Riverside College in California. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. Married Ruth Schul on June 15, 1947 in Rockford. Member of St. Patrick Church for seventy-five years, currently a member of St. Bridget Church. Was a 3 rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470, and a 4 th degree member of the General Assembly 190. Employed as Office Supervisor at Winnebago County Highway Department for thirty-seven years. Volunteered for Illinois League of Municipal Employees and the Senior Health Insurance Program. An avid Cubs fan, his pleasures in life also included helping others, music, dancing, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, compassion, generosity, integrity, and loving spirit.Survivors include wife, Ruth; son, Jerry Reedy, Huntley; daughters, Joanne Lewis, Rockford; Ruthann Love, Rockton; and Kathy (Bruce) Schuenke, Roscoe; Son-in-law, Chris Lewis; daughters in-law, Mickie Reedy and Barb Reedy; grandchildren Jennifer (Dell) Torgerson, Amy (Jamie) Pickens, Jeff (Lisa) Reedy, Niki Amling, Tera (Shane) Woody, Brian (Koula) Amling, Chad (Sandra) Reedy, Lynn (Tony) Scandroli, and Andrea (Jason) Wilkening; great-grandchildren, Rachael and Jacob Torgerson, Kellen and Megan Reedy, Ben Reedy, Ian Woody, Allison, Jonah, Ava and Jordan Pickens, Anastasia, Stella and Ezekiel Amling, Owen and Wyatt Scandroli; Predeceased by son, Tim Roger Reedy.Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in St. Bridget Catholic Church 600 Clifford Avenue with Father Burt Absalon officiating. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Wake service at 7:30 p.m at Fitzgerald Funeral Home (Riverside Chapel) 3910 N. Rockton Avenue. Visitation will continue from 9:30 to 10:15 Tuesday morning at church. In lieu of flowers and in Rogers memory, the family requests that you donate blood at Northern Illinois Blood Bank or make a donation to VNA Hospice.
