Roger P. Himstedt

Rockford-Roger P. Himstedt, 85, formally of Eddyville, Ky, passed away peacefully Friday, July 3, 2015 with his loving wife of 64 years, Winona, and his family at his side. He was born August 9, 1929 in Harristown Township, Il, the son of Raymond and Lucille (Pollard) Himstedt. He married Winona J. Walton, in Niantic, Il on January 6, 1951. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Roger and Winona farmed together for over 40 years in Harristown, Goose Lake Township, and Big Rock, Il. Roger served on the Goose Lake School Board, was an elder in the Presbyterian Church in Coal City, and was an elected member of the first Coal City Fire Protection District Board.
Survivors include his wife, Winona; son, Mike (Carol) Himstedt, Waterloo, Il; daughters, Susan (Craig) Corriveau, Plainfield, Il, Pam (Vann) Rossmiller, Belvidere, Il and Judy (Greg) Greiter, Belvidere, Il; sisters, Jenine Scollon of Trafford, Pa, and Janice (Herb) Rand of Sarasota, Fl; grandchildren, Brian (Melissa), Kristi (Mark), Matthew (Adrienne), Lindsay, Garth (Anne), Cameron and Reed; great grandchildren, Josh, AJ, Cruz, Salome, Vann, Jai and Mateo; in-laws, Devonna Snow, Harold (Mary) Walton, Kathleen Woods, June (Chuck) Fried, Jeanine Shively, Ken (Pepi) Walton and Rod Walton. Predeceased by grandfather Louis and caring Aunt Ruth; parents Raymond and Lucille, stepmother, Emily Miller Himstedt, brother, Wilbur Himstedt, in-laws, Donald Walton, Cecil Snow, Bill Scollon, and Lee Rodriguez.
A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled on August 8, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Rockford, Il at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Memorial may be given to the family for the Cadiz Christian Church in Kentucky in Roger’s name. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, assisted the family.
