Roger G. Hoffstrom, 74 of Rockford passed away on Friday, September 7, 2007. He was born on August 27, 1933 in Minniapolis, MN to the late Edith and Glenn L. Hoffstrom. Roger was married to his beloved wife Jeanette "Jan" A. Gustafson on September 2, 1959 in Rockford, IL. They spent 48 loving years together. Along with being a loving husband, Roger was the best brother, father, grandfather and friend anyone could have been blessed with. He believed character counted and character he had. Roger always had the greatest outlook on life. He would greet you wth a hug, smile, handshake or wave and was always willing to share a joke. Roger was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He proudly served with the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. One year as an aircraft sheet metal man and 3 years as an automotive instructor and evaluator. He then worked for 42 years with Nabisco Brands, Inc. First as a sales representative, he worked his way up to being sales mamager and then a depot manager. When he retired from Nabisco, he went to work as a school bus driver for Rockford School District No. 205 for 4 and 1/2 years. Roger played softball for many different teams and was an avid Green Bay Packers and NASCAR Race fan. He enjoyed fishing with his friend, the late Bob Peterson. He is also a lifetime member of the LLL Society, a member of the American Legion Post No. 1207 and a member of the Moose Lodge No. 295. His memory will live on by his loving wife Jeanette "Jan", daughter Julie Sundberg (Jan) son Kevin R. (Sue) Hoffstrom, beloved grandson Shaun, brother Wayne (Elaine) Hoffstrom, along with serveral uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Roger was preceded by his parents, sister Karen (Hoffstrom) Peterson, aunts and uncles. Funeral Service will be held in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Monday, September 10, 2007 at 12 p.m. Visitation will br from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 4312 E. State, Rockford, IL 61108 or any charity of the donors' choice. To
