Roger Dawson

Roger Glenn Dawson, 67, Rockford, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born July 11, 1949, in Belvidere, the son of Harold and Ruby (Bergsten) Dawson. Roger was a graduate of North Boone High School, class of 1967, and earned his Associate degree from Rock Valley College. He married Jacqueline LaRue in Poplar Grove on August 26, 1972. Roger was an Operations Manager for a machine tool company in the Rockford area. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Our Master’s Center. Roger had been showing dogs since 1979, and won many championships and obedience titles. He was a lifetime member and past President of the Forest City Dog Training Club. Roger was also a member and past President of the Illiana Schipperke Club and a lifetime member of the Schipperke Club of America. While his death leaves a heartache no one can heal, his love leaves memories no one can steal.
Survived by his wife, Jackie; his sons, Matthew Glenn (Emily) Dawson of Dunlap and Timothy Robert (Katherine) Dawson of Bloomington; his grandchildren, James Glenn and Ayden Michael Dawson and Maggie Anne Dawson. Predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, December 19, 2016, at Christ United Methodist Church, Our Master’s Center, 5973 Darlene Dr, Rockford, with Reverend Deanna Mede officiating.
