Roger Allen Rhodes

ROGER ALLEN RHODES, 74, Rockford, died at 9:55a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in Swedish American Hospital. Born October 4, 1932 in Mason City, Iowa, son of Oscar and Helen Gerth Rhodes.nbsp; Graduated from Muscatine, IA. High School in 1952.nbsp; Married Deloris Jane Moomey on July 6, 1952.nbsp; Rockford resident for the past 42 years.nbsp; He began his 19 year career with Kent Feeds in 1952, first in Muscatine and then in Rockford.nbsp; He was then employed by the Happy America Corp until his retirement. He was the founder and first coach of the light-weight division of the Nelson and Storm Junior Tackle Football Program.nbsp; He dedicated 13 years to this endeavor and through all the years was always supportive of his childrens sporting events and activities. He was a lifetime Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his wife, Deloris; children, Pam (Joe) Ambrogio, Patty (Dan) Henthorn, Perry (Kathy Johnson) Rhodes, Peter (Katrina Minor) Rhodes, Paul Rhodes (Kristi Thornbloom) and Paxton (Kelli Fiori) Rhodes; grandchildren, Tony (Kim), Tammy and Joseph Ambrogio, Chester III (DeAnn) and Nicholas Mackiewicz, Allen and Daniel Rhodes, Nichole, Jason, Peter Jr., Taylor Rhodes, Jordan and Jakob Rhodes, Haley and Heather Rhodes and Holly Minor. Also survived by his great-grandchildren, Nino and Adam Ambrogio, Makayla Mackiewicz and Alexander Rhodes.nbsp; His mother, Helen Rhodes and brother, Joe (Fontelle) Rhodes both of Muscatine, IA., and sister-in-law Betty Rhodes of Cole Valley, IL., also numerous Nieces and Nephews.nbsp; Predeceased by his father, Oscar and his brother, Howard. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kenton Lee and nurse, Marilyn at UIC LP Johnson Family Health Center and Swedish American Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 1:30p.m., Monday, April 9, 2007 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Dale Anderson officiating.nbsp; Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 11:00a.m. until time of the service on Monday.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
