Rodney Dean Lundquist

Rodney Dean Lundquist 83 of Rockford passed away Saturday September 17, 2016 in his home. He was born September 9, 1933 in Rockford, the son of George and Emma Lundquist. He graduated from East High School, class of 52. He married LaRae Kauppinen on September 15, 1956, they just celebrated their 60th anniversary. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Sundstrand Machine Tool for 39 years. Member of the Blackhawk Orchid Society and Watertown Pigeon Club. Rodney’s hobbies included woodworking, carving wood ducks and Santa Clauses. He enjoyed gardening. He also grew orchids. An avid fisherman and hunter, he loved to do his yearly trip to Minnesota with his kids. Also a lifelong Cubs and Bears fan. Rodney always was a part of his grandkids lives.

Survivors include: children Jay (Laurie) Lundquist of Rockford, Kari (Todd) Friberg of Rockford, Brian (Lourie) Lundquist of Fountain Valley, CA, Kevin (Jeanne) Lundquist of Rockford and Craig Lundquist of Rockford. Grandchildren, Kelsey Cratty and Sean (Christine) Cratty, Lexie Lundquist, Julia and Matthew Friberg, Amber Adams, Randi and Brock Lundquist, Emma and Bailey Lundquist. Sister, Joan Yeager of Rockton. Brother, Bruce (Gloria) Lundquist of Rockford and Lawrence (Jie) Lundquist of Livermore, CA. Predeceased by his parents. Sisters, Ruth Lundquist, Laura Young, Georgianne Lauson and Jean Scanlan. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of OSF Hospice and Dr Steven Diamond for all their special care.

Funeral Service at 11am Wednesday September 21, 2016 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Road. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
