Roberta A. Nielsen

Roberta A. Nielsen, 85, Rockford, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 16, 1935, in Evanston, the daughter of Robert and Alma May. Roberta married Loren L. Nielsen in Robbinsdale, MN on July 12, 1958. She was a long time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where her husband, Loren, was Pastor for many years. She was a member of the WELCA Circle, taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and nursery school for many years. Roberta used her skill as a puppeteer and ventriloquist to share her many lessons at church.
Survived by her husband of 62 years, Reverend Dr. Loren Nielsen; her sons, Kevin (Julianna O’Brien) Nielsen of Austin, TX, and Dr. John (Lisa) Nielsen of Roscoe; her daughter, Jeni Nielsen of Broadhead, WI; her grandchildren, Justina and Dennis Schulze and Lauren, John, and Daniel Nielsen; her great-grandchildren, Braylen, Mikaela, Weston, Jaxon, and Joie; her brother, Keith (Mary) Wrolstad of Racine, WI; Her sister, Debra Wrolstad of McFarland, WI; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and her step father Lester Wrolstad.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Private family services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday April 23, 2021, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Reverends Rob James and Scott Stolberg officiating.
