Robert T. Totten

Robert T. Totten Jr., 77, passed away on December 24, 2023. Born in Rockford, Illinois on July 9, 1946, son to Robert and Florence (Carlson) Totten Sr., they moved their family to Cherry Valley where Robert lived for the remainder of his life. He attended Gilford high school and volunteered for the Cherry Valley fire department. Later he started what would be his lifelong career in the Cherry Valley Police Department, where he retired 27 years later in 2002 as a Sergeant. He wed Carrie Reno on December 27, 1997, in Rockford. After his retirement he enjoyed many motorcycle rides on his own and with Carrie.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 25 years, Carrie; his son Chad (Rebecca); his brother John (Lynn) Totten and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; sister-in-law Pam Reno. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Ruth. A very heartfelt thank you to all of the nurses, doctors and staff at O.S.F’s ICU unit for all of the care and compassion that they showed to Bob and the family.

A time to gather and honor Bob’s life will take place on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108.
