Robert Scofield 68 of Rockford passed away Tuesday January 12, 2010 in his home. He was born January 17, 1941 in Freeport, IL. The son of Donald and Phyllis Scofield. He married his wife Alice on March 2, 1991. Robert worked for the US Postal Service for 37 years. Was a union member of Branch 245 for many years. On the board of directors for Rockford Postal C.U for 22 years. Instructor in the academy to train new employees in Carroll Stream. Active in Rockford Labor Day Committee for many years. Worked part time for Crimson Ridge Florist and he played Santa for the kids for many years. His most important job that fulfilled him was being the best Papa around. He spent as much time as he could with his grandchildren, traveled from coast to coast in the last couple of years taking them to the Badlands, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Disney Land, Disney World and most recently to Key West, FL to be at his daughters wedding. We are very grateful for the last 5 years since his liver transplant and wish to thank the whole team at UW of Madison, they became like family. Dr. Said, Jamie Myers, Heidi Richter and also a very special friend Senator Dave Syverson for his support and friendship throughout the last five years. Thanks to Samland for their great care the last year, Heather and Peggy, you two rock! Thanks to NIH for the care you gave Bob until the last. He always kept us laughing, Ill miss him. He is and always will be the love of my life. Thanks to his special nurse Tori, Papa loved your hugs and bandages. Thanks to Cody for being there to make him laugh. Last thank you to Valerie and Dave. The last three years were a whole lot easier because of you two. He appreciated everything you did for him, there was no step before the word father and that is how it should have been, you showed him unconditional love, something we all should learn.
Survivors include his wife Alice, Daughters; Valerie (David) Cassioppi-July, Candis Cassioppi, Elizabeth (Timothy) Feeley and Diane (Donald) Zwirblis. Son; Michael (Kelly) Cassioppi. Grandchildren; Dakota Cody Miller, Natori Tori Cassioppi, Shannon and Jack Feeley, George, Cole and Brett Cassioppi. In-laws; Robert (Vickie) Grondzki, Ronald (Karen) Grondzki, Edward (Vicky) Grondzki, Barb Gagliardo and Sandra (Allen) Smith. Sister; Mary Scofield. Two faithful companions; Marlee and Monte and his cat Barkley. Predeceased by his parents, grandparents, one grandson, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law.
