Robert L. Rush

Robert L. Rush, 91, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024. He was the son of the late Dewey and Gladys (Fisher) Rush. Born March 22, 1933 in Osseo, MN, at the family farm during a blizzard. He graduated in 1951 from Osseo High School in Osseo, MN. Following high school, he worked in construction for a short time. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving from July 20, 1953 to June 17, 1955. After completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was deployed to Korea. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He achieved the rank of Motor Sergeant. Following his discharge from the Army, he was an owner-operator of Rush Trucking in Osseo. In 1965, he joined Minnesota Paints/Valspar as a full-time driver in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was promoted to Lead Driver in Rockford IL in 1976. He retired from Valspar in 1992. He owned as many as 30 rental properties in the Rockford area which kept him busy in retirement. Education was always important to him and he was very interested in supporting his grandchildren’s educational pursuits.

He married Patricia Morin on November 24, 1956 in Corcoran, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, brothers Kenneth Rush and Gerald Rush, sister Mary Ann Roff. He is survived by his sister Karen Hastings, children Mary Dada, Michael (Nancy) Rush, Michelle Cramer, Lisa Reif, Melinda (William) Shumaker; grandchildren Sean Dada, Sheena Dada, Sabrina (Aaron) Steffey, Jennifer Chavez, Jessica (Graham) Kilian, Nathan Rush, Katelynn (Matt) Stamm, Lori Reif, Sheri Reif, Cole Shumaker, Gage Shumaker, Halle Shumaker; great-grandchildren Quinn Steffey, Callan Steffey, Liam Steffey, Jasmine Chavez, Jack Kilian, Landynn Burnett, Maxx Cline, Riley Reif and Finn Stamm.

To honor his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life in Minnesota in 2025. He will be laid to rest in Corcoran, MN with his wife of 66 years.
