Robert "Bob", "Red", "Emmett" Emmett McGinnis peacefully passed away on August 30, at St. Anthony Hospital after a long illness. He was born on December 10, 1938, in Rockford, IL of Lewis and Catherine. He was 76 years of age. He spent his childhood in Durand working on the family farm before moving to Rockford after the passing of his father. He graduated from St. Thomas High School and DeVry Technical School. He served his country as a reservist. Robert was an avid golfer, member of the Ironhead club, and served the community by delivering communion to the sick, volunteering with St. Vincent DePaul, and chairing the Stewardship committee of St. Rita's Church. He also supported the local Boy Scouts and volunteered to work on the elect Mayor Morrissey campaign. Robert worked many years at U. C. Industries and Fastener Engineer, Inc. Robert is survived by his wife Geraldine of 53 years, sons Mark, Paul, and James (Jim), grandchildren, Matthew, Shannon, Shawn, Jess, Tyler, Chance; sister, Pauline, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded to Heaven by his parents, brothers Lewis, Charlie, and sister Emogene. Funeral Mass Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Inurnment will be held in St. Mary Cemetery, Durand at 2 p.m. that afternoon. Donations in Memory of Robert to the Poor Clares and St. Vincent DePaul, local chapters.
