Robert Patrick Brannigan, age 82, died peacefully in his sleep, with his family around him, on Monday, March 13, 2017. Bob was born in Fairfield, Connecticut and graduated from Fordham University. After graduation, he became a naval officer and notably, served as a Russian interpreter during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged after six years of service. On February 11, 1961 he married his loving wife Patricia Lee. For the remainder of his career, Bob worked as a special agent for the FBI in Philadelphia, Athens GA ,New York , Chicago
and Rockford. He was an avid writer, golfer, hand ball player, and member of St. Peters Cathedral parish for 40 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia, his three daughters, Kathy Brannigan, Mary Ann (Vince) Sharpe, Margaret (Dave) Mochel, his son Bob (Tricia) Brannigan, ten grandchildren, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Francis and his sister Margaret.
Funeral Mass Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at The Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St. Rockford with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:15 a.m. burial will be held in Arlington Memorial Park, Rockford.
