Robert Monty

Robert L. Monty, 92 of Rockford, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Amberwood Nursing Home. Born May 7, 1920 in Rock Island, the son of Henry and June (Colebaugh) Monty. Married his loving wife Geneva P. Choppi prior to serving in Europe. He served in the Army from 19441946 in Germany.nbsp; Worked for 35 years for the Rockford School Board retiring in 1979.nbsp; Robert was a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary Oratory for several years.nbsp; Survivors include his wife Geneva; son, David (Phyllis) Monty; daughter, Rebecca (Larry) Hampton; grandchildren, Sandy Hampton and Theresa (Steve) Pauley; great grandson, Tyler Reynolds.nbsp; Preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

Funeral Mass Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Oratory 517 Elm St. with Rev. Canonnbsp;Brian Bovee officiating. Interment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to the family. Fitzgerald Funeral Home is assisting the family.
