Robert Lee Lane

""Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather"" Robert Lee ""Bob"" Lane, 84, of Rockford passed away on November 27, 2008 in his home. Born in Indiana, the son of Jack and Lois (Dumm) Lane, ha later married Carshon Lieber- Lane (Asche) in 1984. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was stationed in the Pacific where he flew with the Black Cat Division. Bob was also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and a member of the WWII Combat Flyers Club. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Atwood Golf League and 20 Year Club of Atwood. Bob was an employee of Atwood for 40 years and worked as a manager of Methods and Special Machine Design at the time of his retirement. Survivors include his wife, children Karen Lane and Penny (Philip) Burleson. Grandchildren Erica, Andrew and Simon Brechlin. P.J. (Jessica) and Shawn (Jenn) Burleson. Great-grandchildren Lily Brechlin and Kaiden Burleson. Brother Cecil (Kate) Lane. Predeceased by his parents and brother Daryl Lane. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Rd., Rockford, IL 61107 with Mike Holland officiating. Inurnment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were made by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Central Christian Church, or to a charity of the donors choice. To
