Robert L. Myers

Robert L. Myers, 75, of Rockford, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 12, 2011. Born October 19, 1936 in Dakota, IL; the son of George and Dorothy (Thompson) Myers. Married Rita Ruth (Diemer) Myers on March 10, 1956 in Belvidere, IL. Bob worked over 35 years as a roofer for Carlson Roofing and then McDermaid Roofing, retiring in 2004. He loved attending his childrens baseball and football games and was especially proud of his son Rodney who was a pitcher for the Cubs. Then along came grandchildren and more sporting events to attend. He also loved to fish and hunt.

Survived by his wife, Rita; sons, Robert, Jr. (Debbie) and Rodney (Karey daughter, Rhonda (Kim daughterinlaw, Kelley (Wayne) Whitlock; grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, Justin (Morgan) and Tierny; greatgrandson, Julian; brothers, Bill (Jan) and George (Debbie) Myers; sisters, Gloria (Steve) Hiner and Ginnethea Wilkins.nbsp;Predeceased by his parents; sons, Rocky and Ricky Myers and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with Reverend Bobby Sheets of Riverside Community Church officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00nbsp; 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and also from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday. Memorials may be made to the family.
