Robert Jerry Farlik

Robert Jerry Farlik, 80, of Monroe Center, passed away November 1, 2021 at Alpine Fireside Health Center. Born September 9, 1941, in Chicago, the son of Frank & Edith (Sidlo) Farlik. Married Beverly Woodford in Rockford on June 20, 1964.
Robert earned an associate’s degree from Morton Junior College and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Northern Illinois University. He taught and drove a school bus at Monroe Center School, Meridian Junior High School and Stillman Valley High School for 38 years. He was named Illinois VFW Voice of Democracy Teacher of the Year for the state of Illinois in 1996-97. After his retirement, he continued to substitute teach regularly, and worked for the district in some capacity for more than 50 years.
A dedicated community servant, Robert was a longtime supporter and member of the Monroe Center Lions Club. He was a Monroe Township Trustee, a Cub Scouts Webelos leader and a baseball coach for many years.
Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His family and his community were the most important things in his life, and he dedicated himself fully to both.
Survivors include beloved wife, Beverly; children, Daniel (Kathleen Stockdale) Farlik, Susan (Keith) Carlson and Jodi (Casey) Laughman; granddaughter, Paige Laughman; brothers, Terry (Mariann) Farlik and Richard (Barbara) Farlik; brother-in-law Bob (Sue) Woodford and sister-in-law Barb (Wayne) Thompson. He is predeceased by his parents, father-in-law Roland Woodford, mother-in-law Nancy Woodford and son Ron.
An open house in Robert’s memory will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 1-5 p.m. at the Monroe Center Firefighters Hall.
