Robert ""Bob"" J. Boehler, 63 of Rockford, went home to be with his lord after a courageous battle with lung cancer, Saturday, December 29. Born October 24, 1944 in Newark, NJ the son of Harvey C. and Margaret E. (Snowdon) Boehler. Married his loving wife Eileen Palermo on May 27, 1972. Bob began his employment in the manufacturing industry at Allis Chalmers. In 1971 he moved to Rockford to begin his 28 year career with Ingersoll Milling Machine Company. His various job titles included Quality Engineer, Quality Manager, Assembly and Service Manager, Vice President of Project Operations, Vice President of Information Systems and Vice President of Corporate and Resource Planning. In 1999 he joined the Campus Crusade for Christ-Mission America, for an eighteen month ministry opportunity. From 2002 to the present he worked for Ingersoll Production Systems as Project Manager. Bob enjoyed several business trips to Dalian China were he made many good friends. His hobbies include hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing and playing with is beautiful granddaughters. His faith was central to his life and strengthened him during his illness. He was a Godly man and delighted in sharing Jesus Christ with others. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. William Edwards and Nurse Practitioner Jeannie Oelerich, the entire ACT Medical Group and the Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Eileen; daughter, Rachel (Adam) Vaiden; son, Greg C. Boehler; granddaughters, Araya and Darian Vaiden; mother, Margaret Boehler; Father (Mother)-in-law, Emil (Phyllis) Palermo; brother-in-law, Mark Palermo; special aunt, Elsie Edelman; devoted friends, Larry & Sue Clayton, Jean Pierre & Malou Tokoto, Dick & Darlene Burkett, Jenn Benson and his beloved K-9 pal Roxy. He was preceded in death by his Father and brother, Gregory C. Boehler. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at 1st Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Richard Burkett officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to: Restoration Ministries, 5964 Clarendon Dr. Rockford, IL 61114 C/O Dick Burkett. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
