Robert H. King, 86, of Rockford, formerly of Riverside, IL, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, September 2, 2016. He was born on April 13, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Harry and Elsie (Betty) King. He served in the United States Army as a photographer during the Korean War. He completed his Masters in Theology, which later led to a career in pastoral services for nearly 40 years. He was a member of the Rotary club, Kiwanis, and Masons. Robert loved the theater, restaurants, and travel. He had a gift for making friends where ever he went. He will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him.
He is survived by his niece, Karen (Tom) Sibigtroth, and his great niece, Erin Sibigtroth. Predeceased by his parents, and sister, Elaine (James) Kells.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wesley Willows Good Samaritan fund appreciated. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
