Robert E. McWilliams, 80, of Cherry Valley, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was born on August 13, 1933 in Panola, Illinois; the son of James and Imogene (Rhum) McWilliams. Bob was a proud US Marine serving our country from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict. He married Katherine Burris in Kentucky on May 12, 1951. He worked at many odd jobs from milk man to deputy sheriff before he worked as a millwright at Chrysler Corporation. Bob retired from Chrysler after 28 years in 1992. Bob was actively involved in high school sports, serving as a referee for basketball and an umpire for baseball. He loved his family and enjoyed time spent with friends. He loved to go camping and travelling in his motor home. He was a member of U.A.W. local 1263.
Bob is lovingly survived by his wife of 62 years, Katherine; his children, Jim (Linda) McWilliams, Bob McWilliams, Wayne (Jan) McWilliams, Brian (Becky) McWilliams and Bonnie (Harlan) Jewell; step-brother, John (Karen) Grist, of Ft. Worth, TX; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents.
Funeral service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel with Reverend Dean Parker officiating. Visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service.
