Robert “Bob” M. Drobnik, 87, of Rockford, passed away at home on Sunday, July 31, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Chicago, IL on December 20, 1934, son of Otto and Helen (Mikota) Drobnik. He graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1954 in Wisconsin. Bob worked as a millwright with Sundstrand Corp. for 30 years where he helped build the SST "that never flew". He later drove truck for Cincinnati Tool Steel and Wes Pac until his retirement. Bob married Lilias Ann Barton in 1985, he fondly referred to her as his "new bride". Lilias passed away in 2020. He was previously married to Anna M. Schonfelder in 1954 and were later divorced. Bob enjoyed playing cards, listening to country music and going to the casino with his family. He was a member at Belvidere Moose Lodge 295 and VFW Post #1461. He loved spending his time fishing and hunting in Phillips, WI and in his earlier years enjoyed golfing, boating, snowmobiling and motorcycle riding. Bob also enjoyed polka dancing with Lilias and his daughters, watching NASCAR, golf and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. He will be dearly missed.
Those left to honor Bob’s memory include his brother Thomas (Marlene) Drobnik, children, Sheryl (Dean) Lackey, Janice (David) Faccone, Lauri (David) Witt, and Robert (Andie) Drobnik. Grandchildren Robert (Kayla) Drobnik, great-grandchildren Harper, Robert, Dru, William; Michelle (Jeff Hruby) Drobnik, great-grandchildren Chayson, Payson; Otto (Abecca) Drobnik great grandchildren Summer, Roland; Joseph (Marta) Capriola great grandson Rocco; Nicholas (Kate) Capriola great grandchildren Lucie, Nico; Aubrey (Matt) Nicholson & great granddaughter Evelyn; Alexandrea (Maxwell) Rusch, David Faccone, Daniel Faccone and Donald Faccone, Patrick (Mel) Leaf, Michael (Kathleen) Leaf, Hjalmer Johnson, and Shane Volkey. Preceded in death was his wife Lilias, his parents Otto & Helen Drobnik, and his brother Otto "Huntz" & Marlene Drobnik.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of a funeral service at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel 3910 N Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Final resting place will conclude in Highland Garden of Memories, Belvidere, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bob's name to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, pancan.org or OSF Hospice, Rockford, IL.
