Robert “Bob” James Crouse, 92, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Presence Cor Mariae Center. He was born January 26, 1923, in Rockford, the son of Harry and Alice (McCoy) Crouse. Bob married Anne Margaret Montana in Rockford on August 31, 1946. She passed away in Rockford on January 25, 2008. Bob was a veteran of the Army during WWII serving in the European Theatre under General Patton and General Bradly in France and Germany. He was a member of Local #23 Pipefitters and Plumbers Union for 64 years. Bob was a very kind and caring man with a great sense of humor. He was an active member of Rockford First where he was an usher for over 30 years, active with Marriage Encounters, and he and Anne were on the funeral luncheon committee for many years. He volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program and would pack boxes for the Salvation Army every December.
Survived by his daughter, Alice Floberg of Belvidere; his granddaughter, Heather Crouse of Rockford; and his great-grandchildren, Allyson and Jacob Hooper. Predeceased by his wife, Anne, his parents, his two sisters, Mary and Helen; and his son-in-law, David Floberg.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Rockford First Chapel, 5770 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford, (just west of the main church) with Reverend Bob Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Private family burial at St. Mary/St. James Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, To Rockford First or the Salvation Army.
