Robert "Bob" J. Gustafson

Robert "Bob" Gustafson, 71, passed away December 20, 2019 in Rockford Illinois. Born in Rockford on August 25, 1948 he was the son of Harry and Mary (Galocy) Gustafson. He married the love of his life, Ruth Grujich on July 29, 1978 in Indiana and were married for 41 years. He got a degree in pharmacy and worked in Rockford for 31 years in the pharmaceuticals industry until retiring in 2009. Bob enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, growing fruits and vegetables, and being outdoors fishing for trout, walleye or a delicious catfish. He was a ham radio amateur operator, and spend a lot of his free time working on ham radios; he loved to take them apart, tinker with them and put them back together, and he spend as much time as possible talking to people around the world on them, "KD9GI." Most of all he loved his family, spending time with them carving pumpkins and putting up Christmas lights during the holidays. He will be missed by those that loved him the most. His wife, and his two sons Steven and David. Visitation will take place Friday, December 27th 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Immediately following there will be a grave side service at Arlington Memorial Park, 6202 Charles Street, Rockford, IL, 61108.
