Robert "Bob" H. Cook

Robert “Bob” H. Cook, 83, Rockford, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Alden Debes Health Care Center. He was born October 22, 1937, in Rockford, the son of Robert L. and Hazel (Weberg) Cook. He was a graduate of Rockford West High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Rockford College. Bob married Joan Dapson, in Rockford, on August 20, 1960. He worked as the chief of the Juvenile Probation office in Winnebago County for many years before serving as the CEO of Rocvale Children’s Home retiring after 25 years. After retirement Bob worked as a parking valet at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Bob was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. He served on the Rockford School Board for 4 years, was a member of Ambucs for many years, volunteered at Lawson Children’s Home, and volunteered in the Heart to Heart program at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for those patients that were going thru heart surgeries.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan; his children, Lynn (Frank) Larson of Rockford, Scott Cook of Florida, and Jamison (Kelly) Cook of Rockford; his grandchildren, Matthew Larson, Nicholas Sullivan, Chelsea (Kyle) Whitlow, and Cierra Cook; his brother, Richard (Sandra) Cook of Rockford. Predeceased by his parents.
There will be a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in the spring. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rockford Lutheran High School, 3411 N. Alpine Rd. Rockford, IL 61114 or Carpenter’s Place, 1149 Railroad Av. Rockford, IL 61104.
