Robert "Bob" G. Garnhart, Jr.

Robert “Bob” G. Garnhart Jr., 66, of Monroe Center, died on Monday, March 26, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family and friends. Born September 7, 1951 in Rockford to Robert G. Garnhart Sr. and Lillian (Austin) Garnhart. A class of 1969 Rockford East High School graduate, Bob went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Secondary Education. In business since 1973, Bob was the owner of Garnhart & Sons Construction and Cream City Concrete Contractors with his dear friend and business partner, Scott Anderson. Bob taught in Rockford Public Schools for many years eventually returning to his alma mater where he started a successful construction program.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Katrina and his beloved children: Justin Garnhart, Brandon (April) Minton, Morisa Garnhart, Morgan Garnhart; his brothers Jay (Lorri) Garnhart and Jeff (Sylvia) Garnhart; nieces and nephews: Amy (Thad) Antczak, Andrea (Brian) Herrli, Ryan (Vanessa) Garnhart, Jessica Garnhart, and Kaitlin Garnhart, as well as his four grandchildren: Mallory Garnhart, Samantha Garnhart, Olivia Minton, and Gus Minton.
A celebration of his life will take place 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108. Visitation from 11:30 a.m until time of service.
