Robert "Bob" Forest Masters

Robert “Bob” Forest Masters, 83, of Rockford, passed away on August 29, 2023. He was born on August 7, 1940, in Buffalo, Missouri, the son of Roy and Bessie (Kirk) Masters. He was employed as a truck driver and served in the U.S. Navy. He married Sandra Larson on June 9, 1962, in Robinson, Illinois.

Bob loved his family, joking with the grandkids and coaching the kid’s baseball and basketball teams. He had a sense of humor and was a handsome and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; children, Roberta Smith, Charles Masters, and Daniel (Anna) Masters; grandchildren, Robert James (Caroline) Smith, Brian Smith, Jason Smith, Natalia Masters, and Nicholas Masters; great grandchildren, Adelaide (Harry) Smith, Aidan Smith, Aidric Smith, and Tristian Smith; siblings, David Masters, Beverly (Kim) Visgar, Carol Thompkins, and Barbara Masters; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Pam Northrup; and cat, Susan Sunshine. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Ernest Masters, Evelyn Suski, Albert Masters, Mildred Johnson, and Raymond Masters.

The family wants to give a special thank you to OSF Hospice for their excellent care of Robert.

A public visitation will be on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford 61108. A funeral service will follow starting at 12:00 pm. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
