Robert "Bob" E. Wendorf

Robert “Bob” E. Wendorf, 83, Rockford, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center following a long illness. He was born January 20, 1934, in Rockford, the son of Harry and Bernice (Erler) Wendorf. Bob was an Army veteran serving for 2 years in Japan. He married Beverly “Bev” Young in Monroe Center on August 26, 1961. He worked at Sundstrand Corporation for 27 years before retiring. Bob was a member of the Sundstrand Retirees Club where he was a past President. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church. Bob built their first house and he built their cabin on Lake Sherwood where he and his family enjoyed spending time. He was on the board of directors at Lake Sherwood. He enjoyed playing cards, and was an avid collector of Norman Rockwell figurines, plates, and books. Bob was active in the Indian Princess’ with his daughter, Rebecca.

Survived by his wife of 55 years, Bev; his daughter, Rebecca Evelyn Wendorf of Rockford and his son, Bryan Wendorf of Chicago; his 3 grandchildren, Robert (Nicole Krabbenhoft), Jeffry Williams, and Brandon Williams; his soon-to-be born great-granddaughter; his sister, Lorraine Terviel; his sister-in-law, Sharon Stroeh and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Sylvia Young; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Harry and Bernice; his brother, Darrell Wendorf and Lyle Wendorf and his wife, Ailene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the Community of Christ Church, 6103 Forest Hills Rd., Rockford, IL, 61114. Cremation rites have been accorded.
