Robert "Bob" Dale Sargent

Robert Dale Sargent, 81, of Rockford, passed away March 31, 2018 in his home. Born January 21, 1937 in Chicago; he was the son of Mildred Sargent. He married Karen L. Rosenbaum on March 7, 1983 in Las Vegas, NV.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Bob spent most of his childhood days in Galesburg and Rockford. He retired from Gunite in 1997. Bob was a member of the Winnebago County Council of Sportsman Club, where he served as the vice-president for several years. He participated in the first Rock River Carp Catching contest, help organize the first Earth Day in Rockford and was a member of the Kenrock Rod and Gun Club.
An avid sportsman and environmentalist, Bob enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing, playing poker and Texas Holdem; fishing in the spring and summer and hunting in the fall.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen L. Sargent and his dog, Moki.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred.
Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Road; with Jerry Martz officiating. Visitation 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial in White Oak Cemetery, Forreston. Online condolences may be submitted at fitzgeraldfh.com
