Robert “Bob” S. Black, 54, Rockford, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. He was born in Dixon on February 9, 1970, the son of Gary and Connie (Blake) Black. Bob was a graduate of Oregon High School, class of 1988, where he was class President. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Bob married David Musser in Rockford on February 26, 2017. He was the Director of RALM (Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries). He attended Spring Creek United Church of Christ and later attended Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. He and David co-founded Laundry Love in the Rockford area.
Survived by his husband, David; his mother, Connie Blake, his stepmother, Pamela Black, his siblings, David (Debra) Black, Stacie (Heather) Black, Brian (Stacy) Black and Cassie Blake-Schnorr; many nieces and nephews; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Dianne Musser; many dear friends. Predeceased by his father, Gary Black; his grandparents, Barbara and Alfred Bond and grandparents, Pete and Lillian Black.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, October 14, 2024, at St. Anskar’s Episcopal Church, 4801 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford with the Reverend Jill Flynn officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the church.
