Robert "Bob" B. Schwartz

Robert “Bob” B. Schwartz, 80, of Rockford, passed away on February 11, 2024, at home. He was born on October 7, 1943, in Rockford, the son of Bernard H. and Irene A. (Kling) Schwartz. He married Carol J. Thorsgaard on June 26, 1965. Bob worked in tools, dye, and plastics at J.L. Clark Manufacturing. He was an active member at Rock Church and was part of their Missions Club. He was a member of the J.L. Clark Gun Club, the J.L. Clark bowling league, and spent many years volunteering in Africa, Poland, and Guatemala. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and building additions on his home. He was a patient and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Carina Schwartz-Dabney and Shana Hammond; grandchildren, Jessica (Cameron) Newberry and Rachel Hammond; and sister-in-law, Judy Schwartz. He is predeceased by his parents; son-in-law, Kent Dabney; brother, Roger Schwartz; and sister, Lorraine Morris.

A Memorial Service will be on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Rock Church, 6732 Harrison Avenue, Rockford, IL 61108. A visitation will be prior to the service starting at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock Church, Rock Church Missions, or the Circle of Love Foundation.
