Robert A. Austin

Robert A. "Bob" Austin, 84, of Rockford, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Swedish American Heart Hospital. Born July 6, 1925 in Keens, IL, son of Rob and Myrtle (Gregory) Austin. Served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Married his loving wife of 58 years, Wilma Juanita Harvey. Worked for National Lock and retired after 33 years of service. Was a 32 nd degree Mason, Freeport Scottish Rites and Bob had a great love for pets. Survivors include his wife Juanita of Rockford; sons, Robert F. (Mary) Austin of Byron and Larry D. (Paul) Austin of Smithville, TN; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one sister and five brothers. The family would like to extend a thank you to the CCU unit staff, Drs and nurses and the 2 nd floor Heart Center at Swedish American Hospital for their wonderful care of Bob. Funeral service Monday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Chaplain Dean Parker officiating. Interment in New Milford Cemetery. Visitation, Sunday, March 14, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials to: Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
