Rita Saieva, 86, of South Beloit, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, May 10th of 2024. Born in Aragona, Sicily, Italy on February 18th of 1938 to parents Carmelo and Providenza Morrele. Rita moved to the Rockford, IL area in 1968 with her husband and children to start a new life. The most important thing to her was family, caring for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing baker and chef, known for her Italian cookies. She will be remembered for the love she gave to the ones she cared for.
Rita is survived by her children, Salvatore ‘Sam’ (Olivia) Saieva, Maria (Bill) Dietz; grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Saieva, Angelina (Ryan) Helling, Zachary (Jackie) Crowe, Brittney (Bill) Boan; step-grandson, Curtis (Rebecca) Dietz; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Alexis, Gabriella, Giuliana, Giuseppe, Giovanni, Giada, Maya, Adrina, Draven, Finnley, Lennox; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Giuseppe Saieva; siblings, Madalena (Phillip) Savarino, Carmela (Pietro) Puletto, Angelina (Salvatore) Butera; sister and brother-in-law, Ignazia and Rosario Tarara; niece, Melina; and nephew, Franco.
The family would like to thank the staff, Jacob and Sandy, at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation and Health Center for the love and attention they gave to Rita. Another special thank you to St. Croix Hospice, especially Abbie, Alana, and Krystal for the special care given to Rita.
A visitation for Rita will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, IL, 61102. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Rita’s final resting place will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, following Mass.
