Rita Elizondo

Rita May Elizondo, 73, Rockford, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was born April 30, 1940, the daughter of the late Jose and Alice (Torres) Cruz. Rita attended St. Bridget Catholic Church.
In addition to her companion of 40 years, Claude Sanders, she is survived by her children, Coryn Titus of Rhode Island, Gilbert Elizondo of Rockford, and Stephanie Rogers of Florida; 5 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Grace Bailey, Kathleen Thomson, and Mary Jo Cruz; stepson, Merle Sanders; stepdaughter, Patricia Wilcox and Debbie Dewitt; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family in Wisconsin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Av. Loves Park, with Father Keith Romke officiating. Visitation from 9:30 am until time of service at the church on Tuesday. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
