Rita A. Corl

Rita A. Pendzinski Corl, 85, of Rockford died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Presence Cor Mariae. She was born on July 21, 1930 in Chicago, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Husak) Golchert. She married Raymond Pendzinski on Sept. 5, 1954 in Chicago, who preceded her in death in 1970. She was proud to have worked for the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in the 50’s as a secretary who prepared the contracts for the players. She also dabbled in a few other companies, but most of her time was consumed raising her beautiful family. Rita married James Corl on August 5, 1972 in Chicago, who also preceded her in death in 2014. Rita was a loving mother and grandmother, a talented vocalist singing in several choirs, and a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose River Park Chapter #2578. She was a kind and caring soul with joy in her heart whenever she was with family. She will be missed dearly by all. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Care of America for their compassionate and wonderful care they gave to Rita.
She is survived by her children, Karen Stone, Gail (Rick) Kopacz, Lois (Howard) Prather, Dan Pendzinski and Alan (Heather) Corl; grandchildren, Kristin, Tony (Nikki), Michael, Steven, Brittany, Jordan, Danielle, Drew, Grace, Ryan and Blake. She was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Pendzinski, Jr. in 2014.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 535 Caswell St. Belvidere. Visitation Monday, October 5, from 5-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel 1860 S.
