Richard F. Miller, 81, of Rockford, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
He was born in Freeport, Illinois on April 24, 1942, the son of Frank B. Miller and Irene C. McCallum. Richard proudly served in the United States Army and went on to begin his lifetime career as a talented painter and was actively involved in the Painters Local Union 607. He married Suzanne B. Rosenquist on July 30, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford. Despite the struggles of losing his beloved wife after nearly 60 years of marriage, Richard's resilience and love for his family never wavered. He had a heart full of willingness to help anyone in need. His task-oriented nature was evident in every aspect of his life. Richard was a loving husband and an honorable father who took pride in providing for his family, his proudest accomplishment.
Richard enjoyed traveling to Door County to visit the town of Fish Creek and went on many memorable trips including both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruises. He also enjoyed and took great pride in maintaining his home and yard with meticulous care. Richard could be seen smiling while mowing the lawn as he truly found joy in the simple things in life. His legacy of love, dedication, and hard work will forever be cherished by all those who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his children, Rich Miller, Kelli Jeffers, and Lindsay Miller, as well as grandchildren Brett, Amber, Kaylie, and Tyler. He is predeceased by his parents and wife, Suzanne.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. The burial will conclude in Willwood Burial Park.
