Richard L. Haug, 75Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather Richard L. Haug, 75, Rockford, died at 2:40 pm Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Born December 20, 1934 in Eau Claire, WI, son of Fredrick and Dorothy Hoffman Haug. Graduated from Eau Claire High School and the University of Wisconsin. Married Carol J. Kohlhepp in Eau Claire on February 27, 1954. He played semi-pro hockey and semi-pro baseball, even having played with Hank Aaron at one time. US Navy veteran where he served on the USS Shenandoah and the USS John R. Pierce. He had formerly been employed by Stocks Electric and then retired from General Electric Medical Systems after 32 years. Member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Dick joined the Northwest Fire Department in 1973 and became Chief in 1981. He retired on May 17, 1999 and was appointed to their Board of Trustees on June 1, 1999, still serving in that capacity. He was a big Green Bay Packer and hockey fan and his many good friends enjoyed his sense of humor. He had a huge interest in NASA and was extremely knowledgeable about our countrys Space Program. Dick was an awesome, proud father and grandfather and a good friend to many. Survivors include his wife, Carol; son, James (Debra) Haug, daughters, Debra (Kevin) Huckabee and Vicki (Daniel) Klonicki; grandchildren, Kelly, Sean (Chasity) Christopher, Geoffrey and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Justin, Maddison, Brandalyn, Karsen, Inocencia, Rhianna, Sean and Scott; brother, Fredrick Haug, Jr.; sister, Betty (Richard) Balthazor; numerous nieces and nephews and good friends. Predeceased by his parents. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. William R. Wentink and Rev. Kathyrn Whitney officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation from 4-7 pm Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association for Research.
