Richard K. Gartman

Richard Knight Gartman, Sr., 82, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born May 25, 1936 to Charles Edward Gartman and Bessie (Rabe) in Freeport. Richard married Sharon Sue Carter on May 13, 1965 in Elgin. Richard served in the Army from 1953 – 1957. He was employed at Mechanics, Dv Borg Warner in Rockford. Richard loved rock hunting and ATV riding in the U.P. Michigan. Richard’s greatest joy in life was his beloved wife, Sharon, his beautiful children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. He filled our hearts with joy and love.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; their children, Joseph (Lani) Gartman, Jennifer Gartman and Jessica (Scott) Shustha; granddaughters, Katie (Edison) Crux, Emily Gartman, Hailey Gartman, Amy (Matt) Anderson; grandsons, Gavin Gartman, David (Christal)Hemmingson and Jeff Hemmingson; very special great-grandsons, Matthew and Alex Crux and several more great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Irwin in Texas. Predeceased by grandparents, parents, Bessie Cota and Charles Gartman, brothers, Jimmy, Charles and David Gartman, sisters, Pricilla Foley and Gwen Kampa and beloved daughter, Tammy Glasgow.
