Richard J. Fleming (Dick) , 83, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in his home.
Dick was born in Freeport, IL on April 10, 1937, son of Donald and Josephine (Blimm) Fleming. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Dick married Evelyn Fluck on August 29, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Freeport. He was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Rockford and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus.
Dick truly believed in generosity to everyone, whether it was a listening ear, time to help whomever needed it or just giving advice. He never judged anyone or any situation always showing what true love is. Dick loved to tell stories for hours and laugh and smile his amazing smile with his children, grandchildren, friends and family. Dick loved to use his hands to build as an avid wood worker, fix any home “projects” that needed to be fixed and to be on his Ham radio for hours and teaching anyone how to use/operate one. Dick and Evelyn’s marriage is one we all aspire to have in our lives as they truly knew what loving and accepting each other is all about, no matter what life may throw at you. Dick always had a kind word for anyone and the patience to go with it. He truly loved his faith which he lived every day as an example to all.
