Richard S. Hunt, 57, of Rockford, passed away December 2, 2016 in his home, surrounded by loving wife, Mary and their dog Otis. Born August 16, 1959, in Rockford, the son of Robert & Patricia (Beasley) Hunt. Graduated with BA in speech communication from Eastern Illinois University. Despite having physical disability, Richard was a fighter and the word “Can’t” did not exist. Richard has accomplished so many things and was an inspiration to others. He married Mary Sandstrom in Rockford on September 19, 1998. He was the Home Base Supervisor of the Home Base Support Service for the Arc of Winnebago, Boone, and Ogle counties. In addition, he was involved with RAMP, Alpine Kawana Aktion Club, former player with the Rockford Chariots, the Rockford Park District, and Operation Christmas Child. Member of Northridge Community Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; parents Robert and Patricia; brothers Robert (fiancée’ Nataliya), Randy (Janet) and Ron (girlfriend Robin) Hunt; brother in-law Stuart (Pamela) Sandstrom; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Charlotte Cell and grandparents.
Celebration of life will be held 12 noon on Thursday, December 15th at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Honson and Michael Simmons officiating.
