Richard Gale Beishir

Richard Gale Beishir, 80, of Rockford, was born on January 31, 1934, the son of Sylvester II and Ellen (Gale) Beishir. Richard passed away, peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family, on September 16, 2014. He was a graduate of Byron High School. He married his wife Linda Wherley on September 21, 1957. He had served in the U.S. Navy in the early 1950's. He joined the Rockford Police Department in 1957. He then retired from police work after serving 27 years, in 1984. He then worked as a court security officer until he finally retired in 2009. He was a member of the Navy Club Ship #1, the Lombardi Club, the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, and the Rockford Municipal Employee Credit Union.

Survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Raymond; his daughter, Nora (Maynard) Molitor; his sister-in-law, Kathy Beishir, his brother-in-law, John Gates, his grandchildren, Lane and Elizabeth Molitor and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his son, Lane Beishir, his sister, Sylvia Gates, his brother, Sylvester Beishir III, and several aunts and uncles.
Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, 61108. Cremation rites have been accorded. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
