Richard G. Herrick, 84
Rockford-Richard G. Herrick, 84, passed away in his home Thursday, July 14, 2016. Born November 18, 1931 in Rochester, Minn., the son of Virgil & Iva (Nemoede) Herrick. Graduated from Galena High School, class of 1950, where he was class president and captain of the football team. Richard served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married his love Marcella Herman in Galena, IL on September 13, 1951. He worked for Control'd Climate Distributors for the majority of his career. Richard enjoyed fishing, tinkering around the house, and gardening. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Known for helping people and his sense of humor. He will truly be missed. The family would like to give a special thanks to his primary caregiver Lani Zelhart and her sister Moondette Quilaton for their loving care and support. We couldn’t have done it without them.
Survivors include sons; Robert, Steve and Tom Herrick, and daughter; Holly Erdmann, grandchildren; Jennifer, Sarah and Jacob, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, wife, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Memorial service will be 12 noon Friday, July 22, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL. Visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service.
