Richard F. Leider, 85
Pecatonica-Richard F. Leider, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Swedish American Hospital. Born August 10, 1930 in Evanston, IL, the son of Elmer F. & Gladys (Verhalen) Leider. Graduated from St. George High School in Evanston. He served in the US Naval Reserves. He married Carol Dein on November 21, 1976. Richard worked for Nicor Gas Company as Director of Public Relation for forty-seven years, retiring in 1995. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks. Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, water skiing, camping, and taking care of his yard, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include wife Carol; children Richard Leider, Christine Mahkuk, Deborah (Reece) Livingstone, Denise (Ray) Kunce, Tawnee Nelson and Clint Leider; stepson Luke Richardson; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother Ted; sisters Marilyn and Janet. Predeceased by parents.
Visitation from 5 – 8 pm Friday April 29, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103, with a Christian Wake Service starting at 7:30 pm.
