Richard F. “Dick” Scott, 80, Rockford passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016. Born December 5, 1935 in Warsaw, Illinois to Walter and Edna (Reynolds) Scott. He married Beverly Barnett in Warsaw on September 11, 1954.
Dick began his career at the Weekly Warsaw Bulletin, a family owned paper and print shop. In 1964 Dick and Bev moved to Rockford and he began his career at the Rockford Register Star where he remained for 36 years, most recently as the Purchasing Manager before his retirement.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and trapshooting. He was a member of the Pine Tree Pistol Club. He was also a devoted dog lover.
Dick leaves behind his loving wife Beverly; son, Michael (Muriel) Scott; daughter, Laura (Mike) Noun; Grandchildren, Matthew and Angela; great grandchildren, Colton & Analeigh; sisters, Mary, Marjorie, Judy and Cindy. Dick is predeceased by his parents, son, David Scott, and brother, Tom Scott.
Graveside Services will take place 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, IL, with Rev. Larry A. Snyder presiding.
