Richard “Dick” K. Farson, 81, passed away on February 2, 2023, in Rockford, Illinois. Born in Akron, Ohio, the second of five boys to Harold and Evelyn (Dolan) Farson. Dick attended school in Marysville and Marion, Ohio and graduated from Mishawaka High School in Mishawaka, Indiana in 1959. He served in the Navy from 1959 to 1963. He worked as a hospital corpsman at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California and was then deployed to Iwakuni, Japan as a fleet marine for two years.
On August 15, 1964, he married Diane Maynard in Rockford, Illinois. He spent his career protecting people from accidents and serious injury by providing safety equipment for industrial machines in manufacturing facilities all over the U.S.. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and tending to his yard. He also spent time hunting and playing in horseshoe tournaments with his brothers. His family and friends will remember him as a funny, kind man who enjoyed spending time with his kids and his grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making those around him laugh.
He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 58 years, Diane; his son Shawn (Becky) Farson and his daughter Jennie Farson; his grandchildren Max Farson, Zachary Farson and Gage Guglielmetti; his brothers Jim (Sharon) Farson and William Farson; sister-in-law Viki Monroe, and sister-in-law Myra (Tom) Miller, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Ed and Dennis Farson, and sisters-in-law Marcia (“Skeeter”) Young and Vicki (James) Foreman.
