Richard J. “Dick” Price, 82, Caledonia, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 28, 1935, in Rockford, the son of Maynard and Henrietta (Dailey) Price. He was a graduate of Harlem High School. Dick was a veteran of the Army. He married Doris “Dori’ Meyer in Loves Park on June 26, 1954. Dick began farming in the Rockford area and later farmed in Roscoe for 41 years. He retired to his Caledonia horse ranch to share his love of horses with his family and friends. In his younger years he enjoyed working on cars as a member of the Stroker’s Car Club.
Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dori; his sons, Doug (Marla) Price and Roger (Sue) Price and his daughter, Lori (John) Richardson, all of Roscoe; his grandchildren, Nate (Beth) Price, Marc (Kristin) Price, Nick (Amanda) Richardson, Ben (Kelly) Price, Emily Price, and Kevin Richardson; his great-grandchildren, Daisy Price, Austin Price, and Bailey and Kassidy Richardson; his brother-in-law, Bill Abels; many nieces and nephews and his special friend, Brent Lilja. A special thanks to his caregiver, Shawnne Garas. Predeceased by his sisters Donna Jacobson and her husband Dick Jacobson and Nancy Abels.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. with Reverend Michael Leitz officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
