Reginald C. Ring, 79, Rockford, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 31, 2021 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born October 1, 1941 in Rockford, son of Warren and Della Paulikitis Ring. Graduated from West High School in 1959 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from active duty he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army National Guard of Illinois. He was also inducted into the Army National Guard of Illinois Hall of Fame. He married his love, Carol, on March 22, 1997. Reg lived to work and was presently employed by A- American Machine in inside sales. Prior to that, he was proud to work many years for Publishers Equipment Corp. as vice-president of manufacturing. He was known for telling really bad jokes, but made up for it by being such a loving grandfather to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; daughter, Elizabeth (Matthew) Hand; step-children, Michael (Diana) Horton, Wendy Horton and Matthew (Ainhi) Horton; grandchildren, Patrick Elmo Hand, William Warren Hand, Noah, Nathan, Sen and Maia Horton. Also survived by his favorite, loving canines, Buddy and Bruno. Predeceased by his parents and daughter, Renee’ Ring.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021 in Holy Family Catholic Church with a visitation beginning at noon. Burial in Rock Island National Cemetery. The family was assisted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boylan Central Catholic High School, c/o Renee’ Ring Memorial Scholarship Fund, 4000 St. Francis Dr., Rockford, IL 61103.
